Enduring For Ovarian Cancer was started by a group of friends in support of Jackie Bayley. Jackie was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in April 2009. After a courageous fight that lasted nearly two and a half years, Jackie passed away on August 27, 2011 at the age of 34.
Since Jackie’s diagnosis, several of her friends and family members have participated in endurance events (marathons, half-marathons, triathlons, etc) while raising funds for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF). This fall, several of us will run events in loving memory of Jackie. We will again strive to raise as much money for ovarian cancer research as we can.

In a 2009 message thanking her family and friends for raising thousands of dollars for the OCRF, Jackie expressed the dire need for research:
“As I learn more about this disease, I am frightfully concerned about how little research (particularly diagnostic research) is available. Ovarian Cancer is called the silent killer because (as with my case) it comes with few or no symptoms by the time the patient has reached stage 3 or 4 and the cancer has spread throughout the body (as it did to a number of my organs in the abdomen)....Your efforts, and those that will surely follow due to your caring organization from many of our friends, acquaintances, family, co-workers and still-strangers can only help the next 31 year old girl who didn't know anything was wrong.”
